QIF Categories->QIF Convert
|
 |
QIF Convert is an evolution of QIF Categories
based on feedback from users and would-be users. I gave it a new
name because the user interface is completely different.
Even though the name is different, registered users of QIF
Categories are automatically registered for QIF Convert.
If you are partway through the evaluation period for QIF
Categories and you start running QIF Convert, you will
still get the full 60 day evaluation period for QIF Convert.
QIF Convert uses all of your QIF Categories data
files (QuickenCategories, CategoryMappings, DescriptionMappings,
and CheckNumbers), so you don't have to re-teach QIF Convert
what you have already taught QIF Categories.
QIF Convert 1.1 has the following major improvements
over QIF Categories:
- The user interface makes makes it easier to specify how transactions
should be converted. QIF Convert calls these instructions,
whereas QIF Categories called them mappings.
- Instructions can be edited after they are specified. With
QIF Categories you had to manually edit the data files.
- You can specify that any transaction be confirmed, allowing
you to change the description and category. A new preference
forces all transactions to be confirmed, or you can hold down
the control key to force transactions to be confirmed.
In the confirmation process, you can delete a transaction, causing
in not to be transferred to the output file.
- You can put transactions from multiple accounts into the
same output file, making importing into Quicken easier.
- QIF Convert is apple event-aware, and runs as a more conventional
application with menus.
